Sheriff: More Than 150 Dogs Seized From Upstate SC Woman’s Home

PICKENS, S.C. — Sheriff’s deputies and animal rescue groups have removed 166 dogs from a South Carolina woman’s property after they say the animals were found living in poor conditions.

The animals were taken from the 68-year-old woman’s home in Pickens County after deputies secured a search warrant on Tuesday, according to reports.

Chad Brooks of the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office says the woman was charged with ill-treatment of animals and a rabies control violation.

Brooks says the dogs were taken to the Pickens County Animal Shelter and another area shelter, where they will be held pending an outcome of the criminal case.
